Which Airline did you interview with? Delta Air Lines
How many days between invite, interview, and listed availability? 3 months bc of Holidays.
Did you receive a job offer? Yes
If you did not receive the CJO why do you think you weren’t chosen to continue in the process? NA
What is your experience? 121 only
Total Flight Time 5,000-8,000
Total Turbine PIC Time 1,000-2,000
General Overview of Experience The day was great. I was sad to see the other guys go home but they have 6 month invites back. The Delta team is awesome and they do a good job of helping to relax you. Right now they are only scheduling 4 people/day to interview.
How long did you have your application in before you received an invite? 12 months +
Did you attend a job fair? Yes
Did you do anything special that triggered the interview invitation? I went to the Expo in October, but I don’t think that triggered anything because nobody else I know who went to the expo has heard anything yet.
How many internal recs did you have? 1-2
How long was it from the time of your invite to the actual interview? 4 weeks
Did you have any issues with logbooks, application or paperwork? No issues. Don’t mess this part up because it will throw off your entire day. If you can’t do the simple things they dig deeper. That goes for the HR and everything else. i.e. Throwing out the water bottle right after they tell you they are environmentally conscious.
How did you prepare for the JKT/COG portion of the interview? RST only
Technical Test Questions I wasn’t sure about a Dihedral question. I don’t remember it verbatim, but RST does a good job. I didn’t look at the 15 day checklist at all. I think the ground school portion they have is your best asset. Obviously look at everything on the website. You will feel like you bombed the JKT but if you did the work on RST then your covered.
What was the hardest technical question or content you experienced during the job knowledge test? Something about a Dihedral. I don’t remember it. It revolved around AoA and Airspeed but I can’t remember what it was asking. Sorry.
Cog Test So EASY if you can do a decent job on the RST website.
Cog Math Questions All my math was very easy. FL310 with a descent to 17000. You have to be there in 4 mins, what is your minimum rate of descent?
HR Questions Stick to your guns on your answers. Don’t be rude about it but they try to get you to change your mind. Remember safety and don’t be too dramatic either. My panel was so easy bc I was relaxed (with knots in my stomach) and it relaxed them. If you are not original you can forget about the job bc they have heard the same things too many times. If you have had an arrest, a lot of tickets, bad grades, just explain them and tell them you were stupid and you grew from the experience. Try to remember that they already want you from your app. And they already know you on paper. They want to know if they can stand being around you in a cockpit and whether you will represent Delta as a professional. I didn’t have a blue suit or red tie and I was the only one offered a CJO so I want to kill that horrible rumor. Don’t tell them about your whole family in your introduction bc they don’t want to hear it. One of the CA’s told me so on day 2 when I was talking to him. It’s useless info that doesn’t pertain to the job.
3 min intro.
Why this school?
Engine fire light goes off and you retard the TL, it goes away, you push the TL back up and it comes back on, what do you do?
What is your PA to the PAX sound like when you divert?
Your briefing the flt att and one is on their cell phone, wwyd?
Time you didn’t get along with a CA or FO?
Again, I made sure to be detailed without being boring and my panel was easy. I didn’t get a lot of Q’s bc they said I answered a lot of other ones in my other answers. Breath and be ORIGINAL. This is where people are failing! Not the JKT or COG. Good luck!
How long prior to the interview did you prepare for the HR portion of the interview? 4-6 weeks
Which HR Prep service did you use and did it help? I used my wife. Be careful with the HR prep courses out there. My panel told me they can’t stand the answers and could tell I didn’t use anything because I was original.
Any additional information you would like to add. You don’t need a blue suit and red tie. Explain any bad marks on your app and turn them to a positive. Military guys….don’t be too stiff. Civilian guys….they like to hear Yes sir and yes ma’am. Be professional and don’t dare take your phone out. Keep your water bottle. Try to have fun and enjoy it. It is a huge deal. Make sure to thank everyone and don’t be cheesy about it.
Is their anything you wish you could have done different to prepare you for this process? Not stress as much.
