Which Airline did you interview with? Delta
How many days between invite, interview, and listed availability? Invite to interview was 6 weeks, availability was 2 weeks.
Did you include volunteer work in your application? Yes
Did you receive a job offer? No 6, months re-invite, HR Failure
If you did not receive the CJO why do you think you weren’t chosen to continue in the process? I felt like the interview went well and was very conversational, in hind sight I probably missed opportunities to push the brand. Building Delta’s core values into answers for questions is key and I probably didnt do that as well as I could have.
What is your experience? 121
Total Flight Time 5,000-8,000
Total Turbine PIC Time
TPIC 121 hours
0
TPIC Military hours
0
TPIC 91/135
>2000
General Overview of Experience Everyone was nice and welcoming. It would be nice to get a better de-brief as to why you didn’t get CJO.
How long did you have your application in before you received an invite? 12 months +
Did you attend a job fair? No
Did you do anything special that triggered the interview invitation? Regular updates. Invite came about 10 months after my 3rd internal recommendation, and 9 months after fix it letter. I’ve had my app in for almost 6 years.
How many internal recs did you have? 3-4
How long was it from the time of your invite to the actual interview? 6 weeks
Did you have any issues with logbooks, application or paperwork? Not that they said. My logbook times didn’t match Airline Apps. I had a few worries about logbook times and they didn’t ask anything about it.
Technical Test Questions RST was great for prep, I basically took every practice test and used the study guides to review. The test felt familiar to RST material and was easier than I thought it would be.
What was the hardest technical question or content you experienced during the job knowledge test? One math story problem gives you a ton of information that you don’t need to get the answer.
HR Questions Tell me about school and work history starting in High School. Was 5 years the normal amount of time to get your degree? Math grades? I got C’s.
Conflict at work, is there a down side to coming to Delta, what do you do if lose of medical, what would be biggest thing you take away after you retire, divert story, crew scheduler is pushing for an assignment you feel is illegal, 3 men keep going into bathrooms in back and won’t sit down, checkride failure, follow up performance and weight/balance question about aircraft I used to fly before 121, leadership style as an FO, what if your stuck as FO 6-12 years in the 717 JFK, a few follow up questions after answers.
Cog Test Easier than I thought, RST cog trainer gets you prepped well for this. Don’t over train, you could probably do the practice modules once a day for a week before interview and be fine.
How long prior to the interview did you prepare for the HR portion of the interview? 4 weeks
Which HR Prep service did you use and did it help? Emerald Coast. Yes. I would focus on this more than the testing, this is the only subjective part of your interview.
Any additional information you would like to add. The entire event was more relaxed and easier than I thought, don’t get too relaxed. Stick to your strategy in HR and use the Core Values in your story. It’s easy to get into a matter of fact coversation with HR and not push those values.
Is there anything you wish you could have done different to prepare you for this process? No, felt prepared and felt good about the interview. I was suprised when I didn’t get CJO.
