Technical Test Questions I received a wide variety of questions. I really did feel like RST had me pretty well prepared for this section. There were certainly question that I did not get right but I didn’t feel totally overwhelmed either. There were a wide variety of questions and I cannot remember many off of the top of my head. I remember receiving a couple of questions about runway lights/ colors and distance remaining.
What was the hardest technical question or content you experienced during the job knowledge test? Heavy on aerodynamics as expected. I’m sorry but I don’t remember too many specifics. There were a few math questions but none stood out as impossible. I recommend studying the ground school, quizzes and flashcards on RST hard. I also did a quick study of the text book ” Everything Explained for the Professional Pilot”. This seemed to help with the small amount of questions that I received that I didn’t remember studying on RST.
Cog Test This is the section that got me and absolutely should not have. I was too familiar with the RST Cog trainer and developed some bad habits. The RST Cog trainer is much harder and faster paced as everyone states. The Delta Cog test is much slower. I found that I was spring loaded to want to proceed faster in the test than is possible. I remember forcing myself to slow down out of fear that I was getting too jumpy and was going to start making mistakes. The section that did me in was the border, color, direction section. In the RST version of this section a double tone is good and means you got the right answer. The RST Cog trainer also always seems to start with border as the first correct rule. With the Delta version, a double tone is bad and means you got it wrong. The tones are different but for me I was too spring loaded to start with border and was listening for a double tone. I started with border and got the double tone I was listening for and continued on with this. Unfortunately this was wrong and I didn’t catch it until it was too late. If you are a normal person and pay close attention to the directions you will catch this difference and do just fine. For me, I forced myself to relax a little too much out of fear of being too jumpy and apparently didn’t pay close enough attention to the directions after several sections. Up to this point in the test everything seemed to be just like I was expecting from RST and I let my guard down. Don’t let this happen too you!
Cog Math Questions I did get a few math questions but none seemed as challenging as the RST math questions.
HR Questions I remember most of the questions that in which I was asked. It seemed as though Delta is trying hard to keep changing things up so that candidates don’t show up knowing all of the answers. I feel like in an effort to keep us on our toes that some of the questions can be a little awkwardly worded. I was asked “have you ever had a senior officer try to make you do something that you really didn’t want to do?” I think that they were looking for a conflict story here but for me the honest answer was no. I have never really had a senior officer try to make me do something that I REALLY didn’t want to do. “Tell me about a time that you were suppose to go flying a didn’t”. “What would you do if you had a new co-pilot who kept doing your job for you even after you have asked them to stop?” I felt prepared for the HR portion but wasn’t asked most of the types of questions that I was expecting. Just try and relax, be yourself, and understand that you may not get the questions that you’ve seen over and over again in your prep.
How long prior to the interview did you prepare for the HR portion of the interview? About 5 weeks.
Which HR Prep service did you use and did it help? EC and yes it did help!
Any additional information you would like to add.
Is there anything you wish you could have done different to prepare you for this process? Not really. I felt more prepared come interview day than I anticipated that I would. I made a dumb mistake and get to think about it for several months!
