Which Airline did you interview with? Delta
How many days between invite, interview, and listed availability? 60 days between invite & interview, 1 month between interview & availability
Did you include volunteer work in your application?
Did you receive a job offer? Yes
If you did not receive the CJO why do you think you weren’t chosen to continue in the process? N/A
What is your experience? Military
Total Flight Time 2,000-3,000
Total Turbine PIC Time
TPIC 121 hours 0
TPIC Military hours >2000
TPIC 91/135 0
General Overview of Experience The experience was awesome. Everyone there does a great job of making you feel like they really want you to be part of the team. That said, the wait between the interview and finding out whether or not you got the job is still high-stress and exhausting.
How long did you have your application in before you received an invite? 6-12 months
Did you attend a job fair? No
Did you do anything special that triggered the interview invitation? Internal rec.
How many internal recs did you have? 5+
How long was it from the time of your invite to the actual interview? 8 weeks
Did you have any issues with logbooks, application or paperwork? No. They didn’t mention my logbook at all except for “it looks like you like to do some civilian flying as well.” No comments on hours, etc.
How did you prepare for the JKT/COG portion of the interview? RST 15-day program and got a copy of “Everything Explained for the Professional Pilot” to reference along the way.
Technical Test Questions You check ATIS and notice LAHSO are in effect. You are cleared to land without LAHSO, and on landing rollout the intersection lights come on, what do you do? Determine the outbound heading & timing in holding given a bunch of useless information. How do you recover from a nose-high unusual attitude (bunt or use bank to bring the nose down were two of the choices)? A few descent gradient questions.
What was the hardest technical question or content you experienced during the job knowledge test? I don’t recall–chose one from above. I’m an Air Force guy currently and we don’t do LAHSO so I just gave that one by best guess.
Cog Test Easy if you’ve done RST.
Cog Math Questions Easier than RST, but I don’t remember specifics.
HR Questions Review your app and try to anticipate where questions will come from (why you chose school, major, etc). Your FA brings you a soda & lime and a passenger accuses you of drinking WWYD? How would you create a positive environment for your team given only 6-7 min of pre-brief time on the airplane? While briefing, a FA won’t put his phone away WWYD? TMAAT/WWYD if a superior told you to do something that you disagreed with or was illegal? You get off the crew bus and notice that one of your buddies is getting on the bus to go to work and you’re positive you smell alcohol, WWYD?
How long prior to the interview did you prepare for the HR portion of the interview? 1 year
Which HR Prep service did you use and did it help? ECIC, yes. They really get you in the correct mindset to do well. The 2 big things that helped were hearing how other people thought through the questions and getting put in the “hot seat” to think on your feet in front of others to simulate interview stress.
Any additional information you would like to add. No.
Is there anything you wish you could have done different to prepare you for this process? I probably over-prepared for the JKT & cog.
