General Overview of Experience UAL is as advertised. The HR portion and TSA were almost exactly per the existing gouge and ride reports.
UAL will Positive Space you from any UAL served location.
You pay for your hotel if you need one. Stay at the Double tree they recommend if you can, the pilots already in Indoc will be there, great to meet them the night prior if you run into them.
You receive the TSA study guide in plenty of time, just know the callouts and profiles cold, and have a: Captain/crew brief, departure, approach and taxi brief memorized. They are looking for big stuff, taxi hot spots, departure max altitudes, etc.
Know descend and climb via procedures, including what the max/min altitudes are and where to find them.
I started with HR, about 45 minutes. Standard TMAAT questions, and a quick please go over your resume. Went very fast and they were very welcoming, biggest issue is your own nerves.
1 hour of TSA with a United Captain. Relax, Jacket off, loosen the tie: table fly a sortie, including using the company iPad to brief the taxi, departure, and climb out. Then the callouts until departure complete. You will get some kind of Non-Normal, work the QRH on the iPad, and just follow the checklist. Then the approach brief, and iPad Approach review, finally the Go-Around callouts and profile, and a divert decision. Divert was straight forward, no tricks. Finally a video to talk CRM, watch and debrief what you see, and what you would do differently. There are 4 choices for the Non-normal and the video, so your experience will vary.
Overall, as said multiple times, great company, great experience, awesome new training facility. Enjoy it!
