General Overview of Experience The whole process was extremely professional. The team does a real nice job at making you feel welcome and like you already belong.
How long did you have your application in before you received an invite? 12 months +
Did you attend a job fair? No
Did you do anything special that triggered the interview invitation? Profesional application review, reaching 1000 TPIC 121 jet, and updating regularly.
How many internal recs did you have? 3-4
How long was it from the time of your invite to the actual interview? 6 weeks
Did you have any issues with logbooks, application or paperwork? None. I still had old school log books and I spent 30+ hours auditing them from day 1. Found some minor errors. I tabbed the pages for milestones. Created a summary sheet of the tabbed pages and a paragraph disclaimer explaining any discrepancies in my flight times. In the end I was actually complimented on the cleanliness of my log books. Bottom line take your time and follow their directions to the letter. Don’t over think it. It truly is face value.
Technical Test Questions There were a few head scratchers but I can’t remember at this point. RST’s program is top notch and if you follow the checklist you’ll do fine. Only thing I found is it takes more than 15 days to accomplish.
What was the hardest technical question or content you experienced during the job knowledge test? Again I really can’t remember. Sorry.
HR Questions Was asked about a late boarding and gate agent wanted to board on your heels while walking to airplane. You’re the Captain what do you do? Arrive at destination and weather is good but a layer of fog right at minimums, fairly distant alternates, you’re the FO, what do you do? There was one other I just cannot recall. But in the end as a whole, I feel they really just wanted to get to know me a bit. I didn’t have any canned answers and was just myself. Cracked a few funnies and that was it. Pretty relaxed. I’d say enjoyable.
Cog Test Honestly just run through the COG trainer and you’re golden. The actual cog isn’t as difficult in my opinion.
How long prior to the interview did you prepare for the HR portion of the interview? 4 weeks.
Which HR Prep service did you use and did it help? Independent agency. I didn’t want to go with the Big 2. I wanted to focus on being myself. My agency helped me to just reorganize how I answered questions. But like I said I feel the interviewers really want you to be you and not a canned answer robot.
Any additional information you would like to add. This isn’t a cakewalk but If you prepare and can stay relaxed you should do great. Remember, they want to hire you if you get the invite. Just do the best you can.
Is there anything you wish you could have done different to prepare you for this process? Honestly not really. What I did worked. And boy did I work! Haha. Then again we all do. It’s gonna take time, money, and effort to get it. Just accept that fact as part of the process.
