General Overview of Experience The Pilot Selection Team are very aware of how stressful the process is for us and they do a great job of making you comfortable. I was relaxed and was able to be myself until….it came to the waiting. The worst part of the day is definitely the waiting around to see if your name is going to be called. Luckily, I was with a great group of guys and we were able to have some good banter while passing the time.
How long did you have your application in before you received an invite? 12 months +
Did you attend a job fair? No
Did you do anything special that triggered the interview invitation? Internal rec email
How many internal recs did you have? 3-4
How long was it from the time of your invite to the actual interview? 8 weeks
Did you have any issues with logbooks, application or paperwork? I was pretty nervous about this area. A few weeks after getting the invite, I was on the RST website and found a recorded webinar on application review. I immediately went and made several changes to my application not thinking about the invite email saying not to make any significant changes. I was never asked a single thing about these changes.
Logbooks were tabbed but I did not provide any type of summary.
How did you prepare for the JKT/COG portion of the interview? RST 15 day checklist, then RST Ground School, then review of flash cards, tests, and documents in Facebook Files. I did not read any books from cover to cover. For the COG, JetBrain Games, PEBL, COG webinar, and COG documents from Facebook.
Technical Test Questions All the questions were similar to the ones on RST but none of them are word for word. As others have said, many of the question have two answers that could be correct. This leaves you feeling unsure about how well you did on the test. I did have intercept radial, holding pattern entry, and descent questions.
What was the hardest technical question or content you experienced during the job knowledge test? Here is an example of a question with tricky wording: What is happening during a compressor stall? A. an exceedance of the critical angle of attack B. A disturbance of the airflow in the engine.
Cog Test Very easy, do not stress about this. I took my time and tried to be precise so I felt I might have been a little slow if anything but must have been good enough.
Cog Math Questions I had 5 questions and I guessed on 3 of them. There is no indication of how much time you have left and I believe once you select your answer it goes to the next question so you can not select an answer while you think more about the question.
HR Questions 4 vs 1. Great people. Very friendly. I walked out feeling very confident that I did well and this was mainly because of the warm and friendly attitudes of the interviewers.
-Jacket off and drank the water, HR lady joked quite a bit about drinking the water.
-Interviewers introductions
-Initial a few places on the application
-5 min intro
-Would you choose these colleges again and why?
-Of the different trainings you have had, which is the best that fits you?
-TMA the last time you help a customer in need?
-What does Delta owe you on your days off?
-TMMAT you had a big emergency in the aircraft?
-WWYD if the FAs are coming from their last flight and they are obviously very upset about something on the last flight.
Then it ended quite quickly. I felt like there would be several more questions but they kinda just looked at each other and shrugged their shoulders and all agreed they didn’t have anymore questions. I could tell they were happy!
-Do you have any questions for us?
Then in a very casual and conversational way they were asking me more about my current job and what I would miss most about it. This led to some great back and forth chatting.
Obviously they did a great job making me comfortable and allowing me to talk freely. But remember they do this for a reason. They know your true self will come out in this environment. So if you have some frustrations with life or your current job, be careful. Stay positive and stay in interview mode.
How long prior to the interview did you prepare for the HR portion of the interview? Long time. I recently have been involved with some volunteer work that really had me out of my comfort zone. I was constantly meeting new people and forced to describe myself and my job. Besides the work with ECIC, I really think this helped me.
Which HR Prep service did you use and did it help? ECIC – Emerald Coast Interview Consulting
Yes, absolutely. I did 2 webinars and the Top off.
Any additional information you would like to add. Make sure you get to know the others that are interviewing with you. This really helps to ease the stress.
Don’t worry about the psychology/personality test.
There is alot of good info under the Files section on Facebook.
Go to the facebook page and search within the group “WWYD” and “TMMAT” to see old posts and replies to make sure you have thought about all possible ways to answer these questions
Is there anything you wish you could have done different to prepare you for this process? Worry less about the small stuff. I had several things in my head that I was nervous about them asking about during the HR portion. I wasn’t asked about a single one.
