There were 3 of us to a time slot and at least 2 time slots that day. The hardest part was waiting afterwards, especially the following Wednesday when you knew that were all meeting to deliberate on your fate! Doris called the Thursday a week after the interview, but we were told we might not know until Friday. |

Technical Test Questions | For United’s technical, they send you a study guide with callouts. As said in previous gouge- you have to know them and be able to verbalize them based on the profile view. You will do it in order as the flight progresses. My technical was with Scott McMillan- super nice, puts you at ease. The flight was DEN-MSP using real-time weather and NOTAM’s. I overheard a couple of them talking after about how it was hard to find airports with good weather, so I am pretty sure they use whatever airports work that day. I was given time to review the flight, SID’s ,STAR’s, NOTAM’s etc. and I was also able to reference it later throughout the flight. Then, I did a brief as the Captain. Scott asked a few questions like “What do you have to think about if you get a runway change on taxiout. We do the T/O callouts and then he gave me a Pack issue. I transferred the controls, ran the QRH and since it reset, opted to continue. I said we would watch it and if it happened again with no reset, then we might have to fly at a lower altitude and look at our fuel status if that happened. Continued to MSP with a brief on the RNAV arrival and a few Descend Via questions. Did the Approach Callouts and the Missed Approach callouts. Weather goes down in MSP and have to divert. I ran through what I would do, using their fuel burn numbers and that was the end. |
What was the hardest technical question or content you experienced during the job knowledge test? | N/A- United |
Cog Test | N/A- United |
Cog Math Questions | N/A -United |
HR Questions | The HR was a panel of 2, one HR and one Captain. They were very friendly, but didn’t provide much feedback during the questions themselves, so just be prepared for that. My questions were TMAAT you failed as a leader. Tell me about a difficult situation and and how you and the crew handled it. TMAAT a crewmember made you feel uncomfortable. TMAAT you had to change your behavior to deal with someone. TMAAT you affected a policy. |
How long prior to the interview did you prepare for the HR portion of the interview?
Which HR Prep service did you use and did it help? | ECIC- I highly recommend them although I do know that one of the guys (not on RST) used Cage and did very well and was quite happy with them as well. |
Any additional information you would like to add.
Is their anything you wish you could have done different to prepare you for this process? |
They are super friendly and go out of their way to make you feel comfortable
