General Overview of Experience This was my second attempt. Interviewed in Sept 2016 and got a “12 month reapply.” The pilot hiring office was under new management. Very noticeable and positive difference from my initial attempt. Not that it was bad before but this time around it seemed like everyone involved was EXTRA friendly and trying very hard to relax everyone and set up all applicants for success.
How long did you have your application in before you received an invite? 12 months +
Did you attend a job fair? Yes
Did you do anything special that triggered the interview invitation? I updated my Airline apps once a week, for a month. Very similar to my first interview.
How many internal recs did you have? 1-2
How long was it from the time of your invite to the actual interview? 8 weeks
Did you have any issues with logbooks, application or paperwork? No, made sure everything was perfect. Checked over and over again to make sure it was flawless.
How did you prepare for the JKT/COG portion of the interview? First of all I did NOT read Aerodynamics for Naval Aviators. The vast majority of my studying consisted of going through every sample JKT question in RST and understanding every principle behind the question. With the topics I had trouble with, I’d usually look for a video explaining it on youtube. Worked out well.
Technical Test Questions Can’t remember any of them.
What was the hardest technical question or content you experienced during the job knowledge test? I feel like there was definitely a couple that I guessed on. But the guess was between 2 answers. I can’t remember specifics
Cog Test RST’s practice trainer is harder then the actual thing. Especially after the update that occurred in December 2017.
Cog Math Questions Cant remember specifics but much easier then the RST practice questions.
HR Questions -In about 5 minutes tell us about your self after high school.
-Start a 4 day trip. CA mentions “I’ve been going through a nasty divorce. I really needed to come to work to take my mind off of it” 1st leg you notice he’s screwing up and he is far from performing 100%. (Unsafe)
-Flying into ATL. Running late. After pulling into the the gate, gate agent says that there’s insufficient ground personnel to unload bags in a timely manner. Says it’s going to take at least 40 minutes. 50% of the pax on your inbound flight have international connections. Out bound flight on your aircraft is also being impacted. What do you do?
-Is the customer always right?
How long prior to the interview did you prepare for the HR portion of the interview? 1 month
Which HR Prep service did you use and did it help?
Any additional information you would like to add.
Is there anything you wish you could have done different to prepare you for this process?
