Technical Test Questions JKT was not exactly as I expected; I was an outlier. I had lots of navigation, general AIM information, etc. I was expecting more aerodynamics and performance, but less than 50% was that. Understanding the concepts is the most important takeaway from RST, not memorizing questions/answers.
What was the hardest technical question or content you experienced during the job knowledge test? I had two 3 bar VASI questions that I had not studied for. The questions themselves weren’t hard, but unexpected so I had to spend a lot of time thinking about them.
HR Questions Interview was quick – 33 minutes. First half was app review, college questions, discussing Masters and side teaching jobs. Last half was behavioral.
What qualities make an exceptional pilot?
Captain wants to depart without observing two minute warm up on engines.
Flight attendants arrive frazzled and complaining about previous flight/customers and are visibly upset.
FAs on their phone during briefing.
First class customer says your club soda with lime has alcohol in it.
What was your most challenging aviation decision?
Cog Test Easier than the RST brain games. However, I really struggled with the “localizer” (red line) and keeping it centered. I kept pressing it too early because the brain games was much quicker. The real COG is much slower. PRACTICE! I practiced that 4 times until I completed the practice without mistakes and then took the actual test.
How long prior to the interview did you prepare for the HR portion of the interview? weeks
Which HR Prep service did you use and did it help? Emerald Coast. Highly recommend! 2 webinars, rapid fire, top off.
Any additional information you would like to add. Don’t hesitate to take the first available interview if you can buckle down and study. I took the first available and it was only 2 weeks away. I spent that 2 weeks studying between 4 to 8 hours every day, and by the end, I felt more than prepared. I skipped some topics in the 15 day checklist that I felt comfortable with, but only a few.
Is there anything you wish you could have done different to prepare you for this process? No
