General Overview of Experience Very good experience very similar to what is described in the other ride reports. Very professional environment. Everyone there is very friendly and they try to put you at ease as much as they can.
How long did you have your application in before you received an invite? 12 months +
Did you attend a job fair? No
Did you do anything special that triggered the interview invitation? 1000 + turbine PIC time. Also, becoming an LCA at my regional airline.
How many internal recs did you have? 0
How long was it from the time of your invite to the actual interview? 6 weeks
Did you have any issues with logbooks, application or paperwork? No issues with my logbook or application.
Technical Test Questions As stated in the other ride reports know the consents not the RST questions. There were several questions which I had seen on the RST practice tests but most of the aerodynamics and engineering questions were worded slightly differently than the ones on the practice tests. Read carefully and know the concepts
What was the hardest technical question or content you experienced during the job knowledge test? I can’t remember one which stood out.
HR Questions HR interview was done with one current DAL captain, one retired DAL captain, and an HR representative. Began with 2-3 minute professional intro, then a review and some questions regarding my application such and work history and education. I was asked several WWUD questions. WWUD if the captain does not go around at minimums. WWUD if you see the captain is not going to make a crossing restriction, WWUD if you are new to a plane and you’r a little slow and the captain is rushing you and making derogatory comments to you about your performance. And, why is it important to be honest with your passengers during a delay. HR portion lasted about 45 minutes. All of the interviewers were very friendly and tried to make you feel relaxed.
Cog Test In my opinion the DAL cog tests was easier then the RST practice cog tests. If you can handle the RST cog tests you’ll be fine on the DAL one.
How long prior to the interview did you prepare for the HR portion of the interview? 3 weeks.
Which HR Prep service did you use and did it help? Emerald Coast. I think it helped be take my stories and experiences and present them in a coherent manor. Also, helped with breaking down and approaching different scenarios in a very systematic manor. Additionally, I think it gave me an added level of confidence since I had not been to an interview in a number of years.
Any additional information you would like to add.
Is there anything you wish you could have done different to prepare you for this process?
