How many days between invite, interview, and listed availability? 10 weeks between invite, interview, and listed availability
Did you receive a job offer? Yes
If you did not receive the CJO why do you think you weren’t chosen to continue in the process? N/A
What is your experience? Military
Total Flight Time 3,000-4,000
Total Turbine PIC Time 1,000-2,000
General Overview of Experience Very inviting environment. Everyone is very welcoming and put you at ease from the time you step in the door. There is a closet where you can leave your briefcase and phone for the whole day.
How long did you have your application in before you received an invite? 6-12 months
Did you attend a job fair? No
Did you do anything special that triggered the interview invitation? internal recommendation
How many internal recs did you have? 1-2
How long was it from the time of your invite to the actual interview? 3 weeks
Did you have any issues with logbooks, application or paperwork? No issues, binded all my set one documents into a booklet at staples, and had everything else as loose paperwork.
How did you prepare for the JKT/COG portion of the interview? RST, definitely worth the investment!!!!
Technical Test Questions More difficult than I expected. Went through the entire 15 day checklist and almost everything else on RST website (podcast, webinar etc). Most of my questions were variations of questions from RST or concepts covered. Definitely know the concepts rather than the questions and answers on RST. Still I was able to eliminate at least two of the four questions and remember enough of the concepts to make an educated guess.
What was the hardest technical question or content you experienced during the job knowledge test? The math questions were super easy. I had more conceptual questions.
-programmed FMS and have a top of descent (TOD) but forgot to program headwinds, where will TOD be once you insert HW? Closer to your position….Farther from your position…..etc.
-what causes compressor stall? insufficient air through the inlet….low pressure in farther stages in compressor…etc.
Again know the concepts rather than the questions and answers in RST
Cog Test COG test was spot on. Do the cog trainer, listen to the webinar, and read the questions prior to clicking next on the actual test.
Cog Math Questions The math portion was the toughest part, lots of percentages with a twist. Instead of the usual what is 80% of 250 which I was used to seeing, the question in the COG was you paid $30 for a ticket which was 80% of the original price. What is the original price? I guess bottom line bone up on the percent shortcuts.
HR Questions They go thoroughly through your app and fire away questions about your app reflecting most of the questions discussed at ECIC.
-Tell us about yourself professionally in 5 min.
-Why Delta?
-When did your passion for flying begin?
-tell me about the volunteering you have done and why you chose those volunteer opportunities
-Tell me about a time you regretted a decision you made
-Tell me about a time you had a conflict with a co worker and how you resolved it
-Tell me about a time you had to step in between to arguing co workers
-WWYD if you were a new Capt and showed up to the aircraft and your FO looked unprofessional (wrinkled shirt, needs a haircut, etc) and you had 20 min until push back?
-WWYD if you were the Capt at FL320 and the FA notified you that a few of the passengers are acting suspiciously by rotating through the aft lavatory continuously?
-WWYD if passengers boarded drunk and sitting in first class and the FA tells you (Capt) that they need to be removed from the aircraft but the gate agent knows them and says they are good to go? The interviewer pushed this hard to see if I was not going to support my FA. Stuck with my initial decision to support my FA.
How long prior to the interview did you prepare for the HR portion of the interview? Went to two ECIC conferences 4 and 3 months prior to my interview
Which HR Prep service did you use and did it help? ECIC, highly recommend them. Use their structure and listen to other peoples stories to try and remember similar stories of your own. Definitely worth the investment!!!
Any additional information you would like to add. Be yourself and be confident. They want to hire you so don’t give them any reason not too. Study, come with a great attitude, and crush it.
Is their anything you wish you could have done different to prepare you for this process? No.
