Which Airline did you interview with? Delta Air Lines
How many days between invite, interview, and listed availability?
Did you receive a job offer? Yes
If you did not receive the CJO why do you think you weren’t chosen to continue in the process?
What is your experience? Military
Total Flight Time 2,000-3,000
Total Turbine PIC Time < 1,000
General Overview of Experience Great experience. Very nerve racking throughout the day, however. Potentially a lot of waiting. A good motto that they gave us is “Relax and be confident”
How long did you have your application in before you received an invite? 6-12 months
Did you attend a job fair? No
Did you do anything special that triggered the interview invitation? No
How many internal recs did you have? 3-4
How long was it from the time of your invite to the actual interview? 3 weeks
Did you have any issues with logbooks, application or paperwork? None at all. I updated my app with recent flight time 3 days prior to interview and didn’t touch it again. No questions were asked about it.
How did you prepare for the JKT/COG portion of the interview? I read Everything Explained for the Professional Pilot. I practiced on RST. If I had questions about more technical topics, I looked it up in Aerodynamics for Naval Aviators.
Technical Test Questions I didn’t have a problem with these at all. I know that they are randomly generated from a test bank, but I felt good after taking the test. There weren’t too many that just clearly stumped me. There were some Holding entry, Turbine Engine, and Indicated/True Mach/questions.
What was the hardest technical question or content you experienced during the job knowledge test? The relationship of AoA, Indicated, True, and Mach number in a climb or decent were giving me fits on the practice. RST has the -ITM+ technique. If I didn’t know this, I would have guessed on 3 of the questions.
Cog Test Use RST for familiarization, to know what’s coming. But the actual COG test is much much easier. You do most if it with a stylus and the format is simpler over all. Bottom line. Prepare, but don’t stress.
Cog Math Questions There were 3, maybe 4. All manageable.
HR Questions WWYD: 5 drunk golfers in first class. FA is upset and wants them off, Gate Agent says they’re okay.
WWYD: Third world country, one passenger accuses another passenger (with kid) of kidnapping, and human trafficking.
WWYD: If the CA just doesn’t like you. You guys can’t get along.
How long prior to the interview did you prepare for the HR portion of the interview? Within 2 weeks.
Which HR Prep service did you use and did it help? Cage Marshall Consulting. Most definitely helped. Having never been experienced in this interview format, any exposure to the process helped.
Any additional information you would like to add. More and more people, it seems, are getting flagged the MMPI-2 issues on day 2. You’ve already gotten a CJO at this point, but you aren’t cleared until your package goes to a review board. This review is anywhere from 2-4 weeks from that day. Just know this exists. It is not a clean kill, as there is a high percentage of folks who get cleared from the board.
Is their anything you wish you could have done different to prepare you for this process?
