General Overview of Experience Very professional and pretty much exactly what I expected from other ride reports.
How long did you have your application in before you received an invite? 12 months +
Did you attend a job fair? Yes
Did you do anything special that triggered the interview invitation? Delta career fair
How many internal recs did you have? 3-4
How long was it from the time of your invite to the actual interview? 7 weeks
Did you have any issues with logbooks, application or paperwork? No
How did you prepare for the JKT/COG portion of the interview? RST
Technical Test Questions I did not get many math problems. Some of the questions I had seen exactly or very close from the gouge and others were straight forward enough that it was easy to figure out the answer. This was probably by far the easiest part of the interview for me.
What was the hardest technical question or content you experienced during the job knowledge test? A question asking how would you determine a fuel flow problem. Possible answers were something like N2 rotation, EGT, move thrust levers.
Cog Test Seems easier than RST but the the localizer (keeping the plane centered) one was much different and more difficult.
Cog Math Questions Descent planning, holding, tracking inbound with a wind from the north what heading would you fly.
HR Questions Tell about yourself in less than 4 minutes and the HR guy wrote down the current time for me to see. A time you failed as a leader, tell about check rides (good cop/ bad cop), a time you decided not to go fly and what were your obligations to the passengers, do you have any questions for us.
How long prior to the interview did you prepare for the HR portion of the interview? 7 weeks
Which HR Prep service did you use and did it help? Emerald coast. Great people at Emerald coast and they do care about your success but I think by far the most beneficial part was the phone top off which only last about an hour. I really wish they would offer even at an additional fee more personalized one on one time.
Any additional information you would like to add. I had the Good cop bad cop role. While everyone was very professional one of the panel members did not smile, laugh, or show any feed back other than asking the tough questions with a stern look.
Is there anything you wish you could have done different to prepare you for this process? In the amount of time I had to prepare I don’t think so. I wish I would have been thinking about the interview process before I got the invite.
