TPIC 121 hours 500-1000

General Overview of Experience As previously reported, nothing but the best at Delta. Very welcoming and professional. I genuinely sensed that everyone wanted me to succeed. It is a tough couple of days, but there are no tricks or gotchas.
How long did you have your application in before you received an invite? 1-6 months
Did you attend a job fair? No
Did you do anything special that triggered the interview invitation? I had an internal recommendation sent directly to pilot selection which resulted in my application being scored.
How many internal recs did you have? 3-4
How long was it from the time of your invite to the actual interview? 8 weeks
Did you have any issues with logbooks, application or paperwork? None. I was handed my logbooks at the end of the HR portion and nothing was said about them. Be sure to follow the instructions closely as far as paperwork is concerned.
How did you prepare for the JKT/COG portion of the interview? RST all the way. The program itself was great but even more for me was having a method to attack the enormous amount of information that needed to be studied. The 15 day checklist was a great guide but I spread it out over a longer period of time. I did pretty much everything available within the program and most of the reading including the highlighted ANA.
Technical Test Questions I felt pretty good about the JKT overall. Understanding concepts is definitely a key. My test seemed to have a good bit of nav and aero but very little math and holding questions. At the end probably had about 6-8 questions I wasn’t completely sure about. I would also say about 4-5 questions on my test were exactly off RST.
What was the hardest technical question or content you experienced during the job knowledge test? Don’t recall
Cog Test RST again was a huge help. I would agree with most others that RST is more difficult and moves faster overall. If you are scoring well on the RST trainer the actual test should be no problem.
Cog Math Questions Simpler questions with more time on the actual test than RST.
HR Questions Tell us about yourself since high school in 5 minutes.
Why did you choose your university?
What was a good thing about your flight training program? What could they have done better?
What job prior to starting your flying career provided you the best opportunity to develop skills that you use today as a pilot?
How does rapidly changing/improving aviation technology impact how we do our job as pilots (pros/cons)?
WWYD if the gate agent came down and asked if they could board early because they are short staffed to try to help them get the flight out on time? What if the flight attendants were running behind and there was pressure to board as soon as they arrived?
WWYD if the female captain you are flying with is consistently flying slower than planned, arriving late, and burning more fuel (even though she claims that by going slower she is saving gas and money for the company)?
WWYD if you are going into a field at night and you can see the approach/runway lights on approach but there is fog reported on the field and just as you reach minimums you lose sight of the lights but you know you will be in the clear momentarily?
TMAAT you had a conflict with a co-worker.
How long prior to the interview did you prepare for the HR portion of the interview? Actively about a month prior but I had been reading ride reports and brainstorming answers for several months
Which HR Prep service did you use and did it help? Emerald Coast
I believe that it helped me to organize the ideas that I wanted to be able to communicate in my responses to questions. It gave me a methodology to use to attack the WWYD scenarios. I did all the audio/video lessons, one webinar, and a top off.
Any additional information you would like to add.
Is there anything you wish you could have done different to prepare you for this process? No. I was glad I invested the time and money into the preparation that I did because though there were still nerves, I felt that I was as prepared as I could be.
